Three young men are currently in the custody of the Ghana Police Service under the Ahafo Regional Command over suspected involvement in an attempted robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

The suspects — Johnson Mawutor (26), Kelvin Ofori (22), and Mawuli Dogba — were arrested during coordinated police operations on Saturday, February 22, 2026.

Speaking at a media briefing, Ahafo Regional Police Commander, DCOP James Annor, disclosed that officers on late-night patrol along the Ayomso–Goaso stretch intercepted two of the suspects under suspicious circumstances.

Arrest During Patrol

According to the police, at about 11:30 p.m., a Regional Taskforce patrol team spotted two men riding an unregistered motorbike toward Ayomso near Goaso. Upon noticing the officers, the riders reportedly turned off their headlights and attempted to escape.

The patrol team pursued and successfully apprehended them.

A search conducted after the arrest led to the discovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 29 rounds of ammunition, concealed in a bag the suspects were carrying.

More Weapons Discovered

Further investigations directed officers to Abrodanho, a suburb of Goaso, where a third suspect, Mawuli Dogba, was arrested at a residence linked to one of the suspects.

Police retrieved additional items from the location, including two pistols, multiple rounds of ammunition, four Motorola mobile phones, a Contixo F35 drone, a machete, and a bayonet knife.

Authorities say preliminary findings suggest the weapons were allegedly acquired the same day in Techiman, located in the Bono East Region. Another individual, identified as Mohammed-Adinan Ussif, is currently on the run.

Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the fugitive suspect and investigate possible accomplices.

The Regional Command has reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and security and encouraged the public to provide useful information to support crime prevention efforts.
