Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has emerged as the most-streamed artist in Nigeria on Spotify, according to new figures released by the platform.

The announcement came as Spotify marked five years of operating in Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.
Asake finished ahead of other top Nigerian stars such as Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and Seyi Vibez.

His song “Remember” became the most-streamed track in the country, while “Lonely at the Top” also ranked among the top five.
Spotify revealed that Nigerian users have created over 25 million playlists in five years, with most listeners being young people in their 20s.

Asake’s rise has been driven by his mix of street pop and Afrobeats, with many of his songs going viral on TikTok and other social platforms. His album Lungu Boy also made history as the first African project to debut at number one on Spotify’s global chart.

The achievement further highlights the growing power of Nigerian music on global streaming platforms and Afrobeats’ continued dominance worldwide.
