Nollywood is in mourning as veteran actor Bamidele Tope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has died. 

The actor, beloved for his witty performances in Yoruba films and his signature mix of English, Yoruba, and Ekiti dialect, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to close colleagues, complications from medication led to Okemesi falling into a coma, and he could not recover. 

His friend, Tony Montana, confirmed the sad news via Instagram, saying the actor’s body had been taken to the morgue and promising to share further arrangements with fans.

Okemesi’s humor, versatility, and natural charm made him a favorite in the Nigerian film scene, and his sudden passing has drawn heartfelt tributes from colleagues and fans alike, all remembering the joy and laughter he brought to screens.
