Tinubu to Begin State Visit to UK at King Charles’ Invitation
President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Tuesday for a state visit to the United Kingdom following an invitation from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
According to a statement by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the visit, scheduled for March 18–19, aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and the UK.
During the trip, Tinubu will meet the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, for bilateral discussions expected to focus on trade, investment, defence and cultural cooperation.
The Nigerian leader will also witness the signing of a £746 million financing agreement between UK Export Finance and the Nigerian Ports Authority to support the rehabilitation of key port facilities in Lagos.
The visit will include engagements with government officials and organisations involved in international cooperation, as both countries seek to deepen their partnership.
