Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has introduced a new initiative to help young African creatives break into the global music industry.

The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, launched on March 9 at The Delborough Lagos, is designed to support upcoming talents with professional training, mentorship, and industry exposure.

Speaking at the event, Savage said the programme will not focus only on singers but also on the many roles behind the scenes in the music business. Areas such as music production, film scoring, publishing, sound engineering, and music therapy will be part of the training.

According to the singer, Africa has an abundance of talent, but many creatives lack access to proper training and the networks needed to grow internationally. The foundation, she explained, is meant to help close that gap.

For its first programme, the initiative will select 100 creatives from across Africa for a four-day intensive training in Lagos scheduled for April 23–26, 2026. The programme will be organised in collaboration with Berklee College of Music, where Savage studied.

Participants will receive practical lessons in songwriting, live performance, music production, and the business side of the industry. The training will be fully sponsored, and a few standout participants may also receive scholarships to study at Berklee.

Applications are open to musicians, producers, songwriters, and other music professionals across Africa until March 20, 2026.

The launch event drew several notable personalities including Mo Abudu, Bose Ogulu, Toke Makinwa, Darey Art Alade, Johnny Drille and Yeni Kuti.

With the new foundation, Savage says her goal is to create opportunities for young African creatives and help prepare them for the global stage.
