Adunni Ade announces mother’s death after long illness
Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has announced the death of her mother, Emily Faye, following a prolonged illness.
The actress shared the news on Instagram on Monday, October 19, saying her mother died on Sunday, October 18. She accompanied the announcement with an Islamic prayer for the deceased.

In her tribute, Ade prayed for Allah to forgive her mother’s shortcomings, grant her mercy and make her grave spacious and filled with light. She also prayed for her mother to be admitted into Al-Jannah Firdaus, the highest level of paradise in Islamic belief.
The actress expressed her desire to reunite with her mother in paradise and said further details about the funeral would be announced later.
Ade’s mother had previously faced health challenges. In October 2019, the actress shared photographs of her mother receiving treatment in a hospital and described her as a strong woman.
At the time, Ade expressed her love for her mother and hope for her recovery, writing that she wanted to celebrate her while she was still alive.
The actress has also shared moments with her mother on social media, including photographs they took together.
Ade, who was born in Queens, New York, to a Nigerian father and a German-Irish mother, moved to Nigeria in 2011 and began her Nollywood career in 2013. She has since appeared in English- and Yoruba-language films and worked as a film producer.
As of Monday, the actress had not publicly disclosed the specific illness that led to her mother’s death or announced the funeral arrangements.
