Ayra Starr Makes Hollywood Acting Debut In 'Children Of Blood And Bone' Teaser
Ayra Starr makes her acting debut in the first official teaser for Children of Blood and Bone, the Hollywood fantasy adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling novel.
The behind-the-scenes clip was shared on Monday by director Gina Prince-Bythewood on Instagram, showing scenes from production including costume preparations, action sequences, and brief cast appearances.
The film also features Nollywood veteran Richard Mofe-Damijo, alongside an international cast that includes Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amandla Stenberg and Regina King. Tems is also serving as executive music supervisor on the project, with Burna Boy credited as a music consultant.
Ayra Starr has previously described the role as a major shift from her music career. Speaking about her first time on a film set, she said the experience taught her the discipline of working to a strict schedule rather than the more flexible pace she's used to as a performer, adding that it deepened her respect for the demands of acting.
The story follows Zélie Adebola, played by Mbedu, as she works to restore magic to the West African-inspired kingdom of Orïsha after it was violently stripped from her people by a ruling monarchy.
Directed by Prince-Bythewood and produced by Paramount Pictures, Children of Blood and Bone is based on Adeyemi's 2018 novel, the first book in her Legacy of Orïsha series, and is set for theatrical and IMAX release on January 15, 2027.
