Court Sends Rapper Ghetts to Prison Over Deadly London Crash
British rapper and actor Ghetts will spend the next 12 years behind bars after a road accident he caused led to the death of a 20-year-old student in England.
The court found that the entertainer, whose real name is Justin Clarke-Samuel, drove dangerously and later admitted responsibility for the fatal crash. The incident happened in Ilford, East London, last October.
Investigators revealed that he had been drinking before driving and was moving at high speed on a residential street when he struck the victim, Yabin Tamang. Instead of stopping at the scene, he went home and was taken into custody the following day. Tamang died in hospital two days later from his injuries.
The case attracted wide attention due to Ghetts’ public profile and his role in the Netflix series Supacell.
Beyond the jail term, the court also barred him from driving for 17 years after completing his sentence, closing a case that has sparked debate about celebrity responsibility and road safety.
