Cubana Chief Priest Reacts to Igbo Youths' Claim of Betrayal Over Donation to Tinubu
Popular Lagos socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest (Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu) has responded to viral reports that some Igbo youths feel betrayed after allegedly donating money to support President Bola Tinubu's 2023 campaign.
In a post shared on his Instagram story on February 10, 2026, Cubana Chief Priest addressed the matter directly, dismissing the claims as exaggerated or fabricated for attention. He wrote:
“Some people just want to trend by force. Which Igbo youth group collected money from me or anyone to donate to Tinubu? I supported Tinubu with my own money, my own voice, and my own network; no group donation, no collection from youths. Stop lying on people to trend. If you have receipt, bring it. If not, rest.”
He further stated that he has no regret supporting Tinubu and would do it again if needed, emphasising that his backing was personal and not tied to any collective fundraising from Igbo youths or associations.
The controversy started after a video and several posts circulated online claiming that “Igbo youths” raised funds, donated to Tinubu’s campaign, and now feel abandoned because they have not received expected appointments, contracts, or political rewards in return.
Cubana Chief Priest, a known supporter of the president, used the opportunity to clarify that any financial support he provided was individual and not part of a larger youth-led initiative. He urged people to stop spreading falsehoods in the name of tribal sentiment or political disappointment.
The reaction has divided opinions online: some praised him for setting the record straight, while others accused him of downplaying the grievances of those who genuinely supported Tinubu expecting reciprocation.
