Davido remembers late son Ifeanyi on what would have been his 7th birthday
Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has paid tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, on what would have been his seventh birthday.
The singer shared the message on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the date Ifeanyi was born in 2019.
“LLI Happy birthday son .. me and mommy miss and love you! Keep flying high!” Davido wrote in his tribute.
Born on October 20, 2019, Ifeanyi was the first son of Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke. He died on October 31, 2022, at the age of three, following a drowning incident at the family’s residence in Banana Island, Lagos.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the cause of death after an autopsy conducted on the child. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin told Channels Television in November 2022 that the examination had confirmed that Ifeanyi died by drowning. The police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident at the time.
Ifeanyi’s death came 11 days after his third birthday, which Davido and Chioma had celebrated publicly on October 20, 2022.
The loss also preceded a break in Davido’s music activities. The singer returned with his fourth studio album, Timeless, on March 31, 2023. The 17-track project featured artists including Asake, Fave, and Skepta, and marked his first studio album since A Better Time in 2020.
Chioma also remembered Ifeanyi on what would have been his seventh birthday. According to Legit.ng, she revisited a birthday message she had originally shared in 2022, when her son turned three.
In the earlier post, she wrote: “Happy birthday to the love of my life. Mummy loves you so much; may God always bless you for me. God has been so faithful to us and I'm so grateful to be called your mummy. May you be greater than your parents in Jesus' name, amen. Love you twin! #big3.”
The couple welcomed twins in October 2023, nearly a year after Ifeanyi’s death.
