Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos after appearing before a Magistrate Court in Ogba over allegations of threatening the life of Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.

The social media personality was arraigned on Friday on three counts relating to alleged offences under the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace, and making threats to kill. The charges stem from a video that circulated on social media in which he allegedly made the remarks.

Following public reaction to the video, DJ Chicken said the comments were not intended to be taken seriously, describing them as an attempt to gain attention online. He was later arrested and charged before the court.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the counts. The court admitted him to bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like amount. One of the sureties must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader who owns landed property in Lagos State.

In addition, the court directed the sureties to present three years' tax clearance certificates, utility bills, National Identification Number (NIN) details, and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration documents. One of the sureties must also be a blood relative of the defendant.

The matter was adjourned until August 3, 2026, while DJ Chicken will remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until he meets the conditions of his bail.
