The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has issued a warning to content creators over the unauthorised use of its name, insignia and operational likeness in online skits and related productions. The agency said such portrayals create false impressions about its activities and may attract prosecution.

In a video advisory released on Saturday, the commission said it had observed a growing trend of creators depicting staged raids and arrests while presenting them as EFCC operations. It stressed that these productions were made without its knowledge or approval.

The agency clarified that it does not partner with, endorse or sponsor entertainment content that features its branding without written permission. It urged individuals and production teams to immediately stop using any materials suggesting affiliation with the commission.

The commission warned that continued misuse of its identity, including uniforms and symbols, would be treated as a violation. It added that those who fail to comply risk facing legal consequences.

The caution follows earlier concerns about impersonation by individuals claiming to be EFCC operatives. The agency said some suspects have allegedly carried out fake enforcement activities, particularly around social venues, while using deceptive tactics that undermine public confidence.
