The Federal Government has dismissed reports claiming that NYSC members will soon swap their khaki uniforms for Adire, saying no final decision has been taken on the proposal.

Youth Development Minister Ayodele Olawande explained that discussions on possible changes to the NYSC uniform are still ongoing. He said fabrics such as Adire were mentioned only as examples during conversations on reform and should not be seen as an approved replacement.

According to the minister, the government is still consulting stakeholders before deciding whether any changes should be made. He stressed that any future uniform must be practical, affordable and suitable for the scheme's operations.

Olawande also urged Nigerians to focus on the wider reforms planned for the NYSC rather than speculation over the uniform. He said the government's priority is to strengthen the scheme by expanding skills training, improving corps members' welfare, enhancing security and making the programme more relevant to today's job market.

The clarification comes after reports suggesting that Adire had already been adopted as the NYSC's new official uniform, a claim the minister said does not reflect the government's current position.
