WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026

Today, the Justice, Development and Peace Caritas Initiative (JDPCI) Abuja, in collaboration with CAFOD, successfully commemorated World Environment Day 2026.

The event provided a valuable platform to raise awareness on the realities of climate change and the need for inclusive and sustainable climate mitigation strategies. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions on environmental stewardship and practical actions communities can take to build resilience against climate-related challenges.

A major highlight of the celebration was the introduction of the “Strengthening Inclusive Climate Action through Eco-friendly Briquette” Project, which brings together persons with disabilities and persons without disabilities, traditional leaders, Men, youth and women groups to collaboratively promote climate-resilient and environmentally friendly interventions within their communities.

This year's theme, “Climate Action: Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” underscored the importance of harnessing nature-based solutions to address climate challenges while ensuring that no one is left behind in the journey toward a sustainable future.

The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their appreciation to CAFOD and JDPCI Abuja for their commitment to environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and inclusive climate action.

Together, we can protect our environment, strengthen community resilience, and secure a healthier and more sustainable future for generations to come.
