Nigerian singer and songwriter John Ighodaro, popularly known as Johnny Drille, has revealed that he met his wife, Rima Tahini, through Mavin Records.

Drille made the disclosure while speaking about their relationship in a recent interview. He said they began dating in November or December 2018 and kept the relationship private for almost five years.

“I met my wife at Mavins,” Drille said. “We started dating in November, December of 2018. The rest of the world only got to know in July 2023.”

The singer said keeping the relationship away from the public was not easy, but they were able to maintain their privacy until their marriage became known.

Tahini works as an A&R executive at Mavin Records, where Drille also built his music career. Their relationship was eventually revealed publicly in July 2023 after Mavin founder Don Jazzy announced that the pair were married.

The couple had, however, been married privately before the announcement. Drille had previously revealed that Tahini was his first girlfriend and that he knew within months of meeting her that he wanted to marry her.

In a 2023 interview with actress Iyabo Ojo, he said they first met at one of his shows in 2018 before they later got talking in Abuja.

“We met in October, and by January, I knew I was going to marry her,” he said at the time.

Drille and Tahini have since welcomed a daughter, Amaris, in November 2023.
