The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures in parts of the city as preparations ramp up for the Lagos Fanti Carnival taking place on Monday.

According to the update, several major routes around the Island, including areas leading into Tafawa Balewa Square, will be shut from 7 a.m. on the day of the event. Motorists and residents have been advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes, as traffic is expected to build up around the affected zones.

The government said the move is to ensure smooth coordination and safety during the carnival, which typically attracts large crowds.

The Lagos Fanti Carnival is an annual cultural celebration known for its colourful parades, music, and street performances, drawing both locals and visitors. With activities spread across key parts of the city, traffic disruptions are usually part of the experience.

While authorities have apologised for the inconvenience, they are asking for public cooperation to make the event run smoothly.
