Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has revealed that he wishes his late mother, Ifeoma Edith Ajibade, had lived long enough to watch him perform on stage.

The singer, whose real name is Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, made the revelation while reflecting on his life and the one thing he would have wanted to change.

The 35 year old singer had previously spoken about his mother’s support for his career. In a 2023 profile by The Washington Post, Mr Eazi said she had never seen him perform and had always supported him with prayers. A voice note from his mother also featured on his album The Evil Genius.

Mr Eazi’s career has since grown from music into a wider business portfolio. Born in Port Harcourt, he gained popularity with songs such as “Skin Tight”, “Leg Over” and “Pour Me Water”, and went on to build emPawa Africa, a platform established to discover and support African music talent.

Despite the success that has followed his music and business runs, the singer says there is one experience he wishes he could have shared with his mother: having her watch him perform.

For Mr Eazi, that remains the one thing he would change about his life.
