Nigerian Zion gospel singer Lekan Remilekun has opened up about a deeply personal tragedy, revealing that his father has been missing for the past 26 years.

The singer made the revelation during a recent appearance on the Talk to B podcast, where he recounted the disappearance of his father, legendary gospel musician Remilekun Amos.

According to Remilekun, his father vanished in November 2000 after travelling to Akure, the Ondo State capital, following an invitation to minister. Since then, the family has received no information about his whereabouts.

Describing the emotional toll of the decades-long uncertainty, the singer said the pain has remained with him over the years, especially as his own children have begun asking about the grandfather they never had the chance to know.

"My father, Remilekun Amos, was declared missing when he went for that missionary journey in November 2000, and that was the end.

"He was invited to Akure. A Yoruba proverb says, 'Omo eni ku, o san ju omo eni sonu lo,' meaning a dead child is better than a missing or lost child.

"Twenty-six years counting now. My children are asking me to tell them about grandpa. No one can feel the pain more than the victim, which is me."
