Comedian and singer Nasboi (Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji) has shared how broke he was before making it in the entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview, he explained that after his NYSC program, he fled Lagos for Uyo because he could not afford to live in the commercial capital.

"I was scared of staying in Lagos and decided to relocate to Uyo after my service because I believed Uyo was affordable for a broke man," Nasboi said. "I could see ₦50 on the ground while walking, and I’d shed tears. Picking money from the ground was my greatest achievement back then. At some point, I didn't want to become a billionaire; I just wanted to eat."

Nasboi first broke out online by doing viral impressions of Afrobeats star Davido. He later moved into music, releasing hit tracks like "Umbrella" with Wande Coal and "Small Money." His story highlights how tough the job market and cost of living can be for fresh graduates trying to survive in big cities like Lagos.
