“Nobody uses upcoming actors reach me” – Wumi Toriola fumes at exorbitant prices
Nollywood actress and producer Wumi Toriola has lashed out at upcoming actors who charge high fees without proper training.
She noted that many of them lack real acting skills yet demand ridiculous prices. Toriola stressed that she supports grassroots talent more than most of her colleagues but expects them to know their craft first.
“Involve me?? You sabi act? The few ones wey sabi, they won’t wait till they start selling market before they call ridiculous prices,” she said.
As both a producer and actress, she expressed anger over half-baked actors who show no interest in growing or improving. She warned that calling “Action” with such performers can be so frustrating that one might feel like stoning them.
“Nobody uses upcoming reach me. Check my movies, Blend of Stars, and new Talents. Call price but go market first and be sure dem don know you. No be to blow on social media,” she added.
Toriola described herself as being for the grassroots. She advised that if acting schools sell forms, they should actually train the actors before releasing them to sets, as untrained ones cause serious problems during production.
She revealed she was already on take 40 while speaking, highlighting the difficulties she faces on set.
