Nollywood Comic Actress Aunty Ajara Dies After Long Illness
Popular Nollywood comic actress Ajara Lasisi, fondly known as Aunty Ajara, has passed away after battling a prolonged illness.
Her death was confirmed on Thursday by Nollywood director Tobi Oladele in a statement shared on his Instagram page. According to him, the actress died late Wednesday night.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness,” Oladele wrote.
He also appealed to fans and well-wishers to stop sending donations to the bank account that had earlier been shared for her medical treatment.
News of Aunty Ajara’s health struggles first surfaced in January when fellow actors and colleagues posted videos online asking for financial support to help cover her medical expenses. The appeal drew sympathy from fans across social media, with many contributing and praying for her recovery.
Known for her humorous roles and lively screen presence, Aunty Ajara was a familiar face in Yoruba Nollywood productions and earned a loyal following for her ability to bring laughter to audiences.
