Olumide Oworu Says Youth Must Join Governance, Not Only Complain
Nollywood actor Olumide Oworu says he left the comfort of acting to try politics because he is worried about where Nigeria is heading.
According to him, the decisions being made today will affect his future and the future of young people like him. He said he wants to raise his children in a better country and feels he cannot just sit back and complain.
Oworu explained that politics is not far from his daily life because government policies touch everyone, whether they like it or not. That was why he contested for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2023, although he lost to Desmond Elliott.
In his words, many current leaders are getting older, and the burden of today’s decisions will fall on the younger generation tomorrow. So instead of only talking about change, he believes young Nigerians should step into leadership and be part of the decision-making process.
Simply put, Oworu says: if young people want a better Nigeria, they must stop watching from the sidelines and start getting involved.
