Nollywood actress and producer Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has disclosed that only N22 million was returned to the producers of her movie, A Mother’s Love, after it grossed N103,094,633 at the Nigerian box office.

Omotola gave the breakdown in a video shared online on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, explaining how the film’s cinema earnings were distributed after its theatrical run.

According to the actress, 'A Mother’s Love' generated N103,094,633 in total cinema revenue before deductions.

She said payments to exhibitors, value-added tax, entertainment tax, withholding tax and other charges reduced the amount returned to the producers to N22 million.

Omotola, who produced the movie, also spoke about the demands of promoting a film during its cinema run, describing the experience as challenging, particularly as a first-time producer.

“As a producer, you have to show up, and that was a challenge I wasn't ready for,” she said.

The actress also explained why she decided to pull A Mother’s Love from cinemas on April 19.

She said:

“I know I would do the movie a disservice if I left it in the cinemas, and I wouldn't have the time to promote it or be there in the cinemas, as the culture was or is at this time.”

Despite receiving N22 million from the cinema revenue, Omotola said her production company, Red Hot, donated 10 per cent of the producers’ share to Slum2School.

The donation was part of a commitment made before the film’s release.
