Pete Edochie’s Family Goes After TikToker Who Spread Fake Death News
The family of veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has taken steps to track down a TikToker who falsely announced that the actor had died.
The rumour, which spread quickly on TikTok, shocked many Nigerians before it was confirmed to be completely untrue. Members of the actor’s family later described the claim as reckless and harmful.
Pete Edochie’s son, Leo Edochie, reacted strongly to the situation, saying the family has reported the matter to the Department of State Services (DSS). He also promised a cash reward to anyone who can help identify and locate the person behind the false report.
Leo shared a photo of the TikTok user and warned that spreading such rumours for attention or views would not be tolerated. He urged members of the public who have useful information to come forward.
Pete Edochie is one of Nigeria’s most respected actors and is widely regarded as a living legend in Nollywood. Over the years, false death rumours about celebrities have become common on social media, often causing panic among fans and distress to families.
This is not the first time the Edochie family has had to respond to misinformation about their father’s health. However, this time, they decided to involve security authorities to send a strong message against spreading fake news.
Many Nigerians on social media have since praised the family for taking action, calling on content creators to be more responsible and stop using sensitive topics like death to gain online attention.
For now, the family says they will continue to work with security agencies until the person responsible is found and held accountable.
