Temi Nkem wins BBNaija Season 11
Temi Nkem has won the 11th season of Big Brother Naija, emerging as the winner of the “Show Ya Sef” edition after 70 days in the reality television competition.
The 21-year-old, whose real name is Temitope Chigbue, secured 25.87 per cent of the final votes to defeat Aikou, who finished as the first runner-up with 23.68 per cent, and Sheba, who placed second runner-up with 9.80 per cent.
Temi's victory was announced during the grand finale on Sunday, October 4, after the remaining housemates were progressively evicted from the competition. She takes home the ₦160 million prize package, comprising ₦90 million in cash, a brand-new SUV and other sponsored prizes.
The Season 11 competition began on July 26 with 24 housemates and ran for 70 days, during which the housemates faced weekly evictions, challenges, nominations and a number of twists introduced by Big Brother.
Temi emerged as one of the season's most prominent housemates, with her time in the house marked by relationships, confrontations and controversies involving several of the other contestants.
She initially developed a connection with Keivo but later told Sheba that she wanted their relationship to remain a friendship. Her relationship with Tram subsequently became one of the recurring storylines of the season after the pair shared a kiss in the house.
The incident led to further conversations between Tram and other housemates, with Tram acknowledging his interest in Temi. Their relationship continued to attract attention as the season progressed.
Temi was also involved in a controversy over BB Bucks after she took BB Bucks belonging to Aikou, Ricky and Keivo after finding them around the house. The incidents generated disagreements among the housemates and became another talking point during her stay in the competition.
Earlier in the season, Temi also apologised to several housemates following the first Saturday night party. She apologised to Kamsy, Oyin and Gerard over her actions during the night, with the housemates accepting her apologies.
Despite the controversies surrounding her, Temi continued to survive the competition and reached the final week.
Her place in the finale was briefly thrown into uncertainty during the ninth live show on September 27, when she, Ricky and Tram were announced as evicted. The announcement was later revealed to be a fake eviction, allowing all three housemates to return to the competition.
The twist came alongside the Ultimate Veto Power held by Barry, who was given the choice between “Immunity for All” and “Immunity for None”. Barry selected “Immunity for All”, securing all 10 remaining housemates a place in the finale at the time.
Temi's route to the finale changed again two days later when Keivo was disqualified from the competition following a physical altercation with Tram.
Big Brother reviewed footage of the incident with the housemates before announcing Keivo's disqualification on September 29. His removal reduced the number of finalists from 10 to nine.
The remaining finalists were Temi, Aikou, Sheba, Barry, Oyin, Ricky, Flora, Tram and Bluethopia.
During the October 4 finale, Barry was the first of the finalists to leave, followed by Oyin, Ricky, Flora, Tram and Bluethopia.
The departures left Temi, Aikou and Sheba as the final three housemates. Sheba was then announced as the second runner-up, leaving Temi and Aikou to contest the final stage of the competition.
The result makes Temi the fifth female winner of Big Brother Naija.
Temi, who was born and raised in London, is a student and lifestyle content creator. Her father is from Ibusa in Delta State, while her mother is from Ebute Metta in Lagos State.
Before entering the house, she described herself as bold, vibrant and impossible to ignore. Her official profile listed golfing, eating and walking among her hobbies, while she identified listening to people and giving advice as one of her talents.
She also described herself as egotistical and arrogant and acknowledged that she could be revengeful when her ego was hurt.
During her final Diary Session, Temi said she believed she had played the best strategic game in the house.
Her victory comes after a season that introduced the Most Influential Player of the Week (MIPOW), the Gambit and Ultimate Veto Power, alongside the show's regular eviction and nomination processes.
Temi's ₦160 million prize package was initially announced with a ₦100 million cash component. However, ₦10 million was subsequently allocated to the MIPOW prize fund, leaving the winner with ₦90 million in cash alongside the SUV and other prizes.
