When Zlatan Ibile started making money from music, the biggest doubt didn’t come from outsiders, it came from home.

The singer has revealed that his parents didn’t trust the source of his wealth at first, especially after he bought a house for them in Lekki not long after his breakout. Instead of moving in, they held back, worried the money wasn’t clean.

Zlatan said he had to prove himself by showing them his account details and explaining how he earns from music before they started to reconsider.

Even after that, things didn’t exactly become relaxed. He described growing up in a strict home, where rules still applied regardless of his fame. At one point, his parents agreed to move into the house, but on the condition that he stayed with them and followed their guidelines.

For him, it wasn’t just about success, it was about earning trust at home too.

The story has since sparked reactions online, with many people saying they understand the kind of caution that often comes with African parenting, especially when sudden wealth is involved.
