Tolani Baj accuses former employee of taking DJ controllers worth over N6m
Former BBNaija star Tolani Baj has accused a former employee, Precious Akiyemi Deborah, of taking three DJ controllers worth over N6 million from her DJ Academy.
Tolani made the allegation in a video shared on Instagram on Monday, August 24, 2026.
She said she hired Precious through a recruiting agency in late April to work as an executive assistant at her DJ Academy. Her duties included supervising students, purchasing refreshments, creating behind-the-scenes content and helping run the academy when Tolani was unavailable.
According to Tolani, the recruiting agency informed her about three weeks after Precious resumed that her background check and reference form were incomplete. She said she decided to retain her because she appeared hardworking and reliable.
Tolani said she later transferred about N6 million to Precious to purchase four DJ controllers from Alaba Market ahead of the academy's launch. She said receipts were provided for the purchases.
However, concerns arose after Precious began calling in sick frequently and requesting salary advances.
The matter reportedly came to light during the academy's graduation week when the lead instructor informed Tolani that three DJ controllers had been missing for about three weeks.
Tolani said Precious initially claimed she had removed the equipment on her instruction, which she denied. She said Precious later admitted during a group call that the controllers were at her home, explaining that she had been ill and unable to find transportation to return them.
According to Tolani, Precious sent her a photograph from what appeared to be a hospital the following day and promised to return the equipment. Tolani said the equipment was not returned and Precious later stopped responding to her messages.
She also shared screenshots of conversations which she said showed Precious contacting a DJ about renting controllers on the same evening with the models mentioned in the conversation matching the equipment allegedly taken from the academy.
Tolani further said she contacted the vendor who sold the controllers and was told that Precious had contacted him in June about selling three of the controllers back to him. She said the proposed transaction did not go through.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police.
Two people who had allegedly purchased the controllers from Precious were arrested and one of the controllers was later recovered.
