Tyla Removes Lagos From A*POP World Tour Schedule
Just days after announcing Lagos as one of the stops on her A*POP World Tour, South African singer Tyla has removed the Nigerian city from the tour schedule shared on her official platforms.
The updated itinerary no longer includes the December 22 Lagos date, while the remaining shows across Europe, North America and South Africa remain unchanged. The development follows days of criticism from some Nigerians, who questioned the timing of the concert amid renewed concerns over xenophobic attacks against Nigerians and other African migrants in South Africa.
The backlash began shortly after Tyla announced her first global headline tour earlier this week. While some Nigerians called for a boycott of the Lagos concert, others argued that artists should not be held responsible for political or diplomatic issues between countries. The debate also drew reactions from public figures, including Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, activist VeryDarkMan and Omoyele Sowore.
Before the Lagos date was removed, the A*POP World Tour was scheduled to span Europe, North America and Africa in support of Tyla's second studio album, A*POP.
