Popular socialite and influencer Yhemolee has publicly called out food critic Opeyemi following a negative review of his wife’s perfume brand, sparking heated reactions across social media.

The controversy began after Opeyemi shared a critical opinion about the perfume, which many online users interpreted as dismissive and disrespectful to the brand. Yhemolee, however, did not take the review lightly and responded with a series of strongly worded posts defending his wife and her business.

In his response, Yhemolee questioned Opeyemi’s approach to criticism, accusing him of being unnecessarily harsh and publicly degrading the product rather than offering constructive feedback. He revealed that the perfume brand’s marketing team had previously contacted Opeyemi for a video review when the product was launched, requesting a fee of ₦6 million. 

According to Yhemolee, Opeyemi declined at the time but later bought the perfume and went ahead to give a negative public review once the brand began gaining attention.

Yhemolee argued that if Opeyemi truly had concerns about the product, he could have privately reached out to share his opinions instead of criticising it online.
“If I dislike something or have honest feedback, I will send a private message so the person can improve. I won’t come online to mislead people,” he said.

He further stressed that not everyone has to like the product, but publicly tearing down a brand, especially one built by someone he claimed to admire, was unfair and damaging.

The influencer also highlighted that his wife’s perfume brand has sold over 1,000 bottles, describing it as proof that customers genuinely appreciate the product despite the criticism.
