The legal battle between Afrobeats star Davido and his former partner Sophia Momodu has taken a new turn, as Sophia’s lawyer, Ebelechukwu Egeonu Enedah, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against the singer.

The suit follows a tense court appearance on February 12, 2026, where Davido is accused of verbally attacking the lawyer and later posting online that she was the “worst lawyer ever.” Her law firm, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors, says those remarks were defamatory.

The firm is demanding a public apology, a withdrawal of the statements, and ₦1 billion in damages. Davido has reportedly been given seven days to comply.

Meanwhile, the custody dispute over their daughter, Imade, continues. Davido had gone to court seeking joint custody, claiming Sophia blocked his access to the child. Sophia, on her part, insists he has not seen Imade since 2022 and has not met key financial responsibilities, including school fees and rent.

Things worsened when Davido withdrew his case after an alleged comment in court referencing his late son, Ifeanyi.

What started as a custody disagreement has now grown into a high-profile legal and personal showdown, with both parties holding firm to their positions.
